About

???????????????????????????????

Welcome to my blog! My name is Lacey and I am here to share my story and the reason behind Mindful Healthy Living.

I grew up in a very health conscious, active family until my health started declining in my late teenage years. I started noticing myself falling asleep in class, having no energy for team practices, and gaining weight for unknown reasons. At the time I thought this was normal and believed that my body was going through “changes” all the while feeling down in the dumps most of the time. Finally, at the age of 18, after a routine physical and several blood tests later, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s, which is caused by an under active thyroid.

Battling with this disease for the last 9 years and having my ups and downs with weight, energy, nutrition, anxiety, and other symptoms that come along with this, has motivated me to learn and try to understand the role that nutrition and exercise play in my overall health. It has been an eye-opening experience and now, more so than ever, do I want to share my experiences and ultimately inspire others to take control of their health too.

Nutrition and fitness can be such a powerful thing whether you are dealing with an autoimmune disease, body image issues, depression, anxiety, whatever it may be; nutrition and fitness can play an integral part to your daily happiness. My health continues to be a work in progress, but I can happily say that I am at a healthy weight now, full of energy and life to which I can attribute to a healthy balance of many things but particularly my nutrition and fitness routine. I am here to share my love, passion and encouragement with those of you who also share an interest in health and wellness.

I am a Certified Health Coach where I received my certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  To learn more about my approach and education, please visit my website here.

  1. Hey there Lacey. I also have a thyroid condition, Hypothyroidism. And I love living a holistic and healthy lifestyle. I share you interest in health and wellness. How are you finding the course you’re doing with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition? I’ve seen stuff on it before. Blessings. Staci (from “A God Coloured Girl in a Grey World). =)

    • Hi Staci! Thanks for reading:) I have enjoyed Institute for integrative Nutrition so much! It’s definitely been worth it. There’s a link to the program on my home page and if you click on that they will give you the book that the founder of IIN wrote and it’s amazing! It’s totally free too, no commitment or anything silly like that. I would recommend reading that first to see if it resonates with you and then let me know what you think! I can give you all the details about the programs, pricing, tuition discounts, etc. Best of luck and keep me posted!
